MELASMA

My Journey to Healing Naturally

I didn’t set out to create a skincare brand — I set out to heal.
In 2018, I developed melasma: deep, patchy pigmentation that appeared suddenly and shifted the way I saw myself. The most common advice?
Harsh chemical peels, prescription creams, and invasive treatments that came with risk — and no real answers.
I’d already been living a holistic lifestyle, so I trusted my gut.
Instead of stripping away my skin, I started listening to what it was trying to say.

The Process

Here’s a glimpse into my journey — real, raw, and unfiltered.

What I Did to Support
My Skin — Naturally

Healing melasma holistically wasn’t about a single product or protocol. It was a combination of consistent, conscious choices across every part of my life. Below is an overview of what helped me — not as medical advice, but as insight into what it really took.

Topical Shifts –
Simplify, Purify, Support

I stripped everything back — no more harsh cleansers, artificial fragrances, or over-exfoliating acids. Instead, I switched to gentle, low-tox alternatives that supported my skin barrier rather than fighting it.

  • Replaced all skincare with natural, oil-based, small-batch products
  • Removed conventional moisturisers, exfoliants & makeup with synthetic ingredients
  • Avoided perfumes and fragrance-loaded products
  • Focused on calming, barrier-supportive ingredients (like calendula, chamomile, jojoba)
  • Used a low tox sun protection alternative, only when truly needed.

Emotional Healing –
Inside/Out Matters

Melasma didn’t just affect my appearance — it deeply impacted my self-worth. I had to face my emotions, challenge old beliefs, and give myself permission to be seen again.

  • EFT tapping, breathwork & nervous system regulation
  • Daily meditation to reconnect with self-compassion
  • Reframing limiting beliefs around shame & visibility
  • Therapy & inner work to understand boundaries + emotional roots of skin conditions
  • Journaling, self-inquiry & inner child work

Physical Support–
Move the Waist, Support
the Flow

Toxic build-up doesn’t just leave the body on its own. I supported my lymphatic system and detox pathways to help my body clear what it no longer needed.

  • Daily movement and walking outdoors
  • Lymphatic drainage massage (face + body)
  • Rebounding (mini trampoline) for lymph support
  • Practised Qi Gong for mindful and intentional body movement
  • Gua Sha and facial cupping to increase circulation and move stagnation
  • Infrared sauna & intentional sweating to release toxins

Diet & Lifestyle –
Fuel Healing from Within

Following the teachings of Medical Medium, I began nourishing my body with the right foods to support my liver and reduce internal burden — which was key to reducing the root causes of melasma.

  • Morning lemon water + celery juice
  • Heavy metal detox smoothie (daily)
  • Liver rescue smoothie
  • Multiple rounds of the 3:6:9 cleanse
  • Reduced or eliminated wheat and dairy
  • Targeted supplements: silica, nettle, horsetail, zinc, olive leaf
  • Focused on liver-loving foods and hydration
  • Focused on adrenal fatigue and eating every 1 ½ – 2 hours
  • Avoided alcohol, caffeine & processed foods

Some people may find their skin shifts with a few small tweaks. For others — like me — it may require what feels like a life overhaul. And that’s okay. This journey wasn’t linear or perfect. But every small choice added up. And if you’re standing where I once stood — frustrated, overwhelmed, and unsure where to start — know that healing is possible.
I’ll be sharing more soon through a guided program for those ready to take the next step. But for now, I hope this offers a little hope, inspiration, and clarity. You’re not alone. And your skin is never the enemy.
